ACS poster templates in the right size
ACS has not published Spring 2027-specific board dimensions yet; ACS general Programming Policies specify a 4 ft high × 8 ft wide (96 × 48 in) single-sided board, while undergraduate poster boards measure 4 ft high × 6 ft wide (72 × 48 in) including the frame. Both our 72 × 48 in and 48 × 36 in templates fit the general 96 × 48 in board; for undergraduate sessions, a 72 × 48 in print would hit the frame, so we recommend 48 × 36 in at 100%. Because PowerPoint caps slide width at 56 in, the 72 × 48 in file is built at half size (36 × 24 in): print it at 200% of the file size (100% nominal).

ACS National Meeting poster requirements
ACS Spring 2027 runs March 21–25, 2027, in New Orleans, Louisiana (and ACS Fall 2027 runs August 22–26, 2027, in San Diego, California). ACS has not published Spring 2027-specific board rules yet; these are the ACS general Programming Policies and 2026 meeting rules.
- Under ACS general Programming Policies for technical divisions, each poster presenter is provided with one side of a 4 ft high × 8 ft wide (96 × 48 in, or 243.84 × 121.92 cm) horizontal poster board.
- Under the ACS Undergraduate Poster Session instructions (linked for Fall 2026), each undergraduate horizontal poster board measures 4 ft high × 6 ft wide (72 × 48 in, or 182.88 × 121.92 cm) including the frame.
- Under ACS general Programming Policies, all display material must stay confined to the poster board; computers, audio equipment, projectors, freestanding 3D setups, and live experiments are not permitted (individual divisions may add rules).
- In the 2026 undergraduate poster sessions, even-numbered posters are staffed by the author during the first hour and odd-numbered posters during the second hour, extra tables are not permitted, and posters must be removed immediately when the session ends.
- ACS Fall 2026 did not include virtual poster sessions in its Digital Meeting, and ACS Spring 2027 has not announced a mandatory e-poster upload.
- For ACS Spring 2027, abstract submissions closed September 28, 2026, with acceptance notifications scheduled for December 2026.

What size is an ACS poster board?
ACS has not published Spring 2027-specific board dimensions yet. Under ACS general Programming Policies, general technical sessions provide one side of a 4 ft high by 8 ft wide (96 × 48 in) board, while the Undergraduate Poster Session instructions specify a 4 ft high by 6 ft wide (72 × 48 in) board including the frame. Check your division and session assignment in your December 2026 acceptance notice.
Should I choose 72 × 48 in or 48 × 36 in for an ACS poster?
For a general technical division session on an 8 × 4 ft (96 × 48 in) board, both our 72 × 48 in and 48 × 36 in landscape templates fit comfortably. For an undergraduate poster session, the 6 × 4 ft (72 × 48 in) measurement includes the outer frame, so a 72 × 48 in poster would overlap the frame—we recommend our 48 × 36 in landscape template at 100% scale.
Why is the 72 × 48 in template 36 × 24 in in PowerPoint?
PowerPoint caps slide width at 56 in, so our 72 × 48 in template is built at exactly half size (36 × 24 in). Ask your printer to scale the file to 200% (100% nominal) to print at 72 × 48 in. Chemical structures pasted as vector objects (SVG, EMF, or PDF) stay crisp at 200%.
Are laptops, 3D models, or virtual posters used in ACS poster sessions?
Under ACS general Programming Policies and undergraduate poster instructions, all materials must fit on the poster board itself—laptops, projectors, audio equipment, freestanding 3D displays, extra tables, and live experiments are prohibited. In addition, the ACS Fall 2026 FAQ confirmed that virtual poster sessions are not part of the ACS Digital Meeting, and no mandatory e-poster upload has been posted for Spring 2027.
How do odd and even poster numbers work in ACS undergraduate sessions?
Under the 2026 ACS Undergraduate Poster Session instructions, authors with even-numbered posters stand at their boards during the first hour of the session, and authors with odd-numbered posters stand at their boards during the second hour. Posters must be taken down immediately when the session ends.
