SfN Neuroscience 2026 poster requirements
SfN publishes the size of the board, not a required poster size. Anything that fits the board is accepted.
- The board is 6 ft wide × 4 ft high (1.8 × 1.2 m), so posters are landscape.
- A 72 × 48 in poster fills the board exactly; print it at about 97% (70 × 46.5 in) to leave room for pins and the board number. A 48 × 36 in poster fits with space to spare.
- Posters stay up for the whole four-hour session, and you stand at your poster during your assigned hour.
- Set up at least 15 minutes before the session starts. Pushpins are provided at the board.
- Virtual presenters upload the poster as a PDF instead of printing it.

SfN poster FAQ
What size is an SfN poster?
SfN does not require a poster size. The board is 6 ft wide by 4 ft high (72 × 48 in), and any poster that fits it is accepted. Most presenters print 72 × 48 in at about 97%, or 48 × 36 in.
Should my SfN poster be portrait or landscape?
Landscape. The board is wider than it is tall, so a landscape poster uses the space well; a portrait poster would fit but leave most of the board empty.
Is 48 × 36 in big enough for SfN?
Yes. It fits the board with room around it and is cheaper to print. Keep body text at 28 pt or larger so it stays readable from a couple of metres away.
Why is the 72 × 48 in template only 36 × 24 in in PowerPoint?
PowerPoint cannot make a slide wider than 56 in, so the file is built at exactly half size with the type already sized for the printed poster. Print it at 200%; text, shapes and charts are vector and stay sharp, and photos should be placed at 300 dpi or more.
What do virtual SfN presenters need?
A PDF of the poster instead of a print. Export the same template to PDF; the 16:9 e-poster size also works when you want a version that reads well on screens.
Are the SfN templates free?
