AGU Annual Meeting poster requirements
AGU26 (San Francisco, 7–11 December 2026) has not published its poster rules yet; AGU says the scientific programme goes live in early October 2026. Until then, these are the AGU25 rules (New Orleans, December 2025).
- Each presenter gets a board 6 ft wide × 4 ft high (1.8 × 1.2 m); the poster may be up to that size.
- Leave a 1 in border around the edge of your content, so print a full-board poster at about 70 × 46 in.
- Posters are landscape and stay up for a full day; you present during your scheduled session.
- Push pins are handed out at the poster assistance desk.
- Posters can also be shown online as an iPoster, built in AGU’s own online tool.

What size is an AGU poster?
At AGU25 each board was 6 ft wide by 4 ft high, and a poster could use the whole board minus a 1 in border. A 72 × 48 in poster printed at about 70 × 46 in, or a 48 × 36 in poster, both fit.
Has AGU published the AGU26 poster size?
Not yet. The AGU26 programme and presenter pages go live in early October 2026. At AGU25 the board was 6 × 4 ft; check AGU’s poster page before you print.
Should an AGU poster be landscape or portrait?
Landscape. The board is 6 ft wide and 4 ft high, so a landscape poster fills it; a portrait poster would leave most of the width empty.
Why is the 72 × 48 in template half size?
PowerPoint cannot make a slide wider than 56 in, so the file is 36 × 24 in with the type sized for the printed poster. Print at 200% for the full board or about 194% to keep the 1 in border. Maps and satellite images should be placed at 300 dpi or more.
Do I need an iPoster for AGU?
Only if you choose to show your poster online. iPosters are built in AGU’s own tool; you can reuse the figures and text from your printed template.
Are the AGU templates free?
